Dr. Albert van Dijk is a freelance consultant, owner of AAConsultants and treasurer of WaterFocus, a coop of 50 independent experts working in the water sector.He holds a M.Sc. degree in Agriculture (1977) from the Agricultural University of Wageningen, the Netherlands and a Ph.D. in Agro-meteorology (1986) from the University of Mo, USA. To keep his technical knowledge up-to-date he has followed several post-graduate courses mainly in management, finances, climate change and environment. He has more than 30 years experience in agriculture, water and environmental sectors, including early warning, crop yield forecasting, climate change, water resources management, land use planning, watershed and river basin management, water use (water supply, irrigation), wastewater, drainage, reuse, drought and flood control, integrated lake (ILM) and coastal zone management (ICZM), sector reform, policy and strategy development, institutional strengthening, PPP,, organisation restructuring.Albert van Dijk has worked for the private industry, universities, government organizations, multi-national organizations, community based organisations and is familiar with its systems and procedures of financing.During his assignments, he aims to combine his role of technical adviser with the one of process manager, building bridges between key stakeholders, recognizing and respecting different cultures and interests, facilitating the creation of win-win situations and has a keen eye for lessons learned and to put them into practice in his project implementation. ‎ Albert van Dijk’s project management experience includes 18 years as team leader, 7 years as project director and 6 years as Business Unit director. Albert van Dijk has worked in more then 35 countries, he has lectured in 15 different post-academic training courses and senior advanced courses in 7 different countries.
