Profile bio

About Alberta Brown

Alberta Brown is a Deputy Head Inbound High School Program (Schulbesuch in Deutschland) at Experiment e.V.. She is proficient in Spanish and French. Colleagues describe her as "I had the delight and honor of working with Alberta for eight weeks as part of a prestigious international exchange program in which the nonprofit I work for -- Global Ties Kalamazoo -- partnered with the Council of International Programs and IJAB to bring a cohort of German social workers to Kalamazoo in the fall of 2024. This year's cohort was an incredible group that made a huge impact on our community. This was the first year that our organization directly hosted a fellow participating in the program, as Alberta's experience in exchange programs was so closely related to our work. I fully expect that the benefits of this collaboration will be felt by our organization for years, even decades to come. Alberta helped build survey tools, and began the implementation of those tools through in-person interviews with key stakeholders in our work (both in-home hospitality hosts and professional hosts in our community). Alberta's ability to effortlessly develop rapport with her interview subjects can't be overstated, resulting in truly actionable information for our organization pertaining to both what's working -- and what isn't --when it comes to professional hosting for our numerous exchange programs. She was also able in ONE DAY to secure assets for our organizations that both myself and my organization's director had requested from one of our partners repeatedly via all possible platforms (email, text, phone, social media, and in-person) over the course of nearly a year. These assets are critical to our organization's ability to convey how the benefits of hosting continue to bear fruit long after the hosting period. Alberta works very hard, but also engages joyfully and brought so much camaraderie to our team. She will be deeply missed, and we would love to work with her again given the opportunity. I know I speak for everyone on my team when I say that we'll all miss her personally as well. The time we spent with her flew by so quickly and her amazing energy will be missed in our office and in our lives."
