As the Secretary General of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office, Mr. Albert Hani is at the forefront of one of the Western Balkans' most prestigious inter-governmental institutions. Hailing from North Macedonia, he has earned the trust of the six governments in the region during his four-year term, playing a vital role in shaping its future. Before assuming his diplomatic post and honor to lead RYCO, he was the Head of the RYCO Local Branch Office in Skopje, North Macedonia, and at the same time practiced teaching on Intercultural communication at the State University of Tetovo. As one of the most dedicated persons in promoting peace and reconciliation, Mr. Hani has been managing and leading various peacebuilding institutions and projects during his longstanding professional career. Since 1994, he has been very active human rights and civil society activist. He is also a well-known mediator, political analyst and trainer on peacebuilding and intercultural learning topics. Besides his legal background and specialization in International law, he has conducted postgraduate studies on Human resources management, History and international relations, as well as informal postgraduate studies on Gender and politics. His advancement in both personal growth and career progression has always been closely tied to non-formal education. Through his dedication and commitment, he has earned over 100 training certificates, demonstrating his eagerness to continuously improve and enhance his skills. He also fluent in most of the local languages spoken in the region of Western Balkans. He has been lucky to be trained by the best practitioners in the peacebuilding field across the world, in many training programs, while he also has facilitated hundreds of trainings and conferences for: government and political party representatives, civil servants, journalist, police officers, youth, civil society activists and business leaders.Mr. Hani has published manuals on Mediation for secondary school teachers and local municipal councils, and he is also co-author of the Manual on social skills and teacher’s responsibilities. In addition, he has also published numerous research papers and has been engaged with several research agencies as a researcher.Mr. Hani is an alumnus of the leadership program of the United States of America, Norwegian Nansen Peace Academy and the Democratic leadership program of the Council of Europe. Nature is his passion and he loves hiking and biking!
