Senior Consultant, Data Engineering & ArchitectureSlalom Jan 2022 - Feb 2023Worked with clients to understand their requirements and develop data products to satisfy their needs. I implemented DevOps pipelines in GitLab CI (YAML code) to deploy or update objects in Snowflake test and production environments using tools like RedGate and SchemaChange. Additionally, I developed a custom python script that scanned the Snowflake information schemas to create an up-to-date DDL and DML inventory in a Git Lab repository; ensuring reliable tracking of all data warehouse code. I demonstrated expertise in Snowflake native objects, including Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks, and Views. I developed an ETL pipeline that received messages about new files in a cloud object store, then would copy the contents into snowflake using Snowpipe and then scheduled tasks to run scripts that transformed and integrated the data; this was done without third-party ETL tools, resulting in a cost-effective implementation. I also built upon an open-source Snowflake data validation engine, improving it for our client to track errors in our pipelines based on given business rulesI worked to help clients architect new data platforms. I conducted in-depth client interviews to assess their existing architecture, identify pain points, and in-turn developed solutions to resolve these issues using cloud based tools. -

My responsibilities included managing the ingestion of over 18,000 daily data files, equivalent to approximately 50 million records. I successfully built complex aggregate datasets, enabling robust self-service reports with hundreds of dimension combinations, essentially creating a data cube. Additionally, I developed, monitored, and maintained multiple data pipelines that seamlessly facilitated data flow and supported the reporting needs of end users. I was responsible for data/file transfer for each new machine, and guaranteed that no work delays occurred due to the new hardware deployment.
