My voluntary role to assist the Site Manager in running of the daily activities of the site.My duties were to ensure that everyone on site adheres strictly to health and safety rules whilst assisting in supervising a £2 million residential development project in Sydenham; London, which comprises of 14 flats, spread over two floors, with the guidance of my Site Manager.I was also privileged to undertake an internship at a newly acquired site in Lewisham, which was being constructed on behalf of L&Q. The £57million project was being constructed with a concrete frame, which consisted of six, seven and fifteen storeys respectively. I was actively involved in supervising the subcontractors and carrying out site surveys to set up the site appropriately, ensuring safe access paths around the site was in place. On the administrative side, I was involved in updating the site paperwork, ensuring everyone was signed in on the daily register, updating the site drawing, carrying out tool box talks and ensuring pre-pour snag sheets were properly filled.I was predominantly involved with coordinating the daily tasks of the site, which enabled me to develop my supervisory, and communication skills at all levels, providing some interesting challenges along the away. Furthermore, it has given me a better insight into roles and responsibilities of a Site Manager on site. The sub-contractors in charge of the ground works offered this position to me and the RC frame structure for the project mentioned below. I took on the position to get involved in the engineering aspect of the building project and I was actively involved in assisting the Assisting the Site Engineers in carrying out setting out activities for the columns, beams, and slab edges. I also supervised the ground works and involved in calculating the dig and cut-off levels for the piles in preparation for the pile caps as required by the ground workers. The position was possible by Mota Engil Construction, who supported my ambition to understand the engineering part of the project. Monitoring and checking concrete delivered on site for construction used Monitoring construction team targets against contractual Quality Management System Managing the work performed by supervisors’ construction teams.Overseeing and ensuring that works are constructed in a safe manner and meet the specified requirements in terms of cost, quality, and time-scale.Determining construction labour requirements and resource planning for my construction works.
