La Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA) asigna a la Universidad de Oviedo la tarea del diseño del subsistema de cableado del ESMO.Para llevar a cabo el diseño,ha sido necesaria una comunicación continua con el resto de estudiantes integrantes del proyecto, así como con los expertos de la ESA.
