The Lupus Research Alliance in an effort to focus it's efforts and pool its resources to bring safer and more effective treatments to lupus patients, established a single member affiliate organization (Lupus Therapeutics, LLC) to manage its clinical trial endeavors and establish a venture philanthropy program aimed at de-risking lupus drug development research. In partnership with the bio-pharmaceutical industry, we are identifying clinical drug candidates that we believe could be efficacious in lupus and forging strategic partnerships to advance those assets more expeditiously in lupus. Through the formation a North American and academic-based, clinical trials network known as the Lupus Clinical Investigators Network (LuCIN), early phase, proof of concept clinical trials are being pursued in partnership with industry and clinical investigators.
