The Institute has four linear accelerators, 3 Novalis Tx and 1 TrueBeam STx, all equipped with ExacTrac and a high resolution collimators. Eclipse, Elements, and iPlan planning systems are used for treatment planning with external beams. For commissioning and regular quality assurance testing, the Blue Phantom and various dosimeters from PTW and IBA are used. Patient-specific quality control is performed, depending on the treatment technique, measuring with EBT3 films that are later analyzed with RIT; EPID based dosimetry measurements, or measurements with the Delta4 phantom.Training as a resident includes, among other elements:• Medical aspects in treatment planning, such as the interpretation of CT and MRI images, the range of volumes in radiotherapy, and the segmentation of organs at risk in each location.• Treatment planning (3D, IMRT, VMAT, and SRS). Prepare and execute patient-specific quality controls.• Carry out weekly and monthly controls and participate in annual controls of linear accelerators and CTs.• Development and implementation of models in RapidPlan.• Development of scripts for the post-processing of structures and automatic planning

I started my training as a Medical Physicist during the 4th year of the Engineering Degree in Nuclear and Energy Technologies. Upon graduation I started working in the Medical Physics Section of the Department of Radiotherapy of the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology of Havana, Cuba. Within my duties in the hospital is; To perform quality controls to treatment units (Cobalt 60 machine Theratron Phoenix SN139, linear accelerators Elekta Precise SN5735 and SN1220 and Elekta Synergy SN2950, orthovoltage treatment unit Xstrahl 200) and to TPS (Elekta XiO), redundant revision of the dosimetric planning proposal, treatment planning (3D CRT, IMRT and SRS), in vivo dosimetry with radiocromic films (EBT3) and detectors Solid state (diodes). I also participated as a monitor of the research practices for undergraduate students of the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Technologies (FCTN).
