Using the Surphaser 3D scanning system to perform first article inspection, I am the first and last steps at my plantin introducing any new mold pattern, and have prevented millions of dollars’ worth of erroneous tooling errors inreaching the production floor. I also reverse engineer tooling and parts, and have saved over $1.75 million in newtooling costs.· Designed, or assisted in designing, nearly $500k in new tooling for internal and external customers.· Root cause failure analysis using the International Atlas of Casting Defects and conventional foundry knowledge, alongwith the 3D scanner to identify sources of dimensional or other inaccuracies in parts, I have helped solve issues that haveplagued our facility for years, saving tens of thousands in potential scrap parts, and reduced our Quality Assurancedepartment’s workload considerably.· Using what I have learned in root cause failure analysis regarding production of molds and castings, I help establish bestpractices and implement new procedures (or identify and eliminate drift to re-align with an old procedure). I also helpimplement engineering controls and define metrics for success in key areas.· Creating solid model templates and SolidWorks VB programs, I have taken previously time-consuming CADmodeling tasks and automated them so that they take only a few seconds, freeing our limited engineering staff.· Using process data from SAP and applying statistical methods, I have helped solve new scrap problems andhighlight areas in need of re-alignment with existing process plans.· Auditing our process when no immediate course of action is obvious has helped eliminate over $2 million in scrapparts in 2014 alone.· I oversee two hourly employees, and am responsible for part of the repair process for flasks (tooling used in themold-making process), as well as capital projects in that area, totaling $1million annually.
