Al began his Federal law enforcement career in 1995 with the U.S. Probation Office and worked in Boston, MA and Hartford, CT. From 2000 to 2008, he served as a special agent with the U.S. Secret Service in Providence, RI and lastly on the Vice Presidential Protective Division. During his time with the Secret Service, Al worked a number of complex financial crime investigations while completing many high visibility protection assignments. In 2006, Al received an award for meritorious service from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Rhode Island.From 2008 to 2016, Al worked for the U.S. Agency for International Development OIG. As a senior special agent, he was assigned to the Africa/Latin America Division and handled a number of complex international financial crime investigations. In 2012, Al became the assistant special agent in charge for the Middle-East and Asia Division and supervised the Afghanistan, Pakistan, Manila and Washington, DC field offices. While at USAID OIG, Al received the OIG Leadership Award for meritorious service. Al also received meritorious service awards from the U.S. Attorney’s Office's in the District of Columbia and in the District of New Jersey, along with a service award from the FBI.From 2017 to 2019, Al served as a senior operations officer with the U.S. Department of Energy OIG and handled reporting and operational matters for headquarters and all regional field offices. In this role, he received the agency's New Employee of the Year Award. From 2019 to 2021, Al served as the Assistant Inspector General for Investigations at the Government Publishing Office OIG and transformed the agency. Among his many accomplishments, he led the Office of Investigations' effort to pass legislation through Congress granting statutory law enforcement authority for all legislative branch agencies as incorporated in the IG Legislative Independence Act of 2019.Since retiring from federal service, Al became the Director of Investigations Management at World Vision, International. This is a newly created position charged with managing and coordinating all investigative functional units spanning over 100 countries handling major financial fraud, high-threat physical security concerns, safeguarding of persons, and other serious allegations and complaints.Al is a graduate of Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, MA. He also completed the Senior Executive Fellows Program at the Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and has numerous law enforcement certifications.
