It’s where many of my skills were forged such as planning, preparation, teamwork, leadership, gas turbine mechanics and most importantly paying attention to detail. [Team Player, Self-Starter] On a ship, the latter often meant the difference between life and death. [Works well under pressure] So I still feel an obligation to pay attention to detail in everything I do. [Detail-oriented]After the Navy, I rediscovered my passion for technology. This led me to pursue a career in information technology. I also learned something surprising about myself. I had fallen in love with the entertainment industry. It was hard to admit. I originally found the industry to be superfluous. But when I distilled it to its core - all that was left were stories. And it wasn’t just the stories themselves that I loved, but the way we use these stories. We teach and learn through stories. [Anthropology] It can persuade, invoke emotions, and leave an impact. [Marketing] Even data tell stories. [Data Analysis, Financial Modeling] This realization eventually led me to complete a degree in Marketing.Now if you read to this point, here’s the answer - One bite at a time. [Strategic Thinker, Creative Problem Solver] So “Why the elephant riddle?” you ask. Simple, the world is growing more connected and complex. How we break big problems down into simple and actionable steps is today’s key to success. At least that was my take-away from the riddle.
