Even at this early stage in his career, he has more than enough skill to implement virtually any design you put in front of him. He combines this near-wunderkind ability with a humility and open-mindedness that is sorely lacking in the industry as a whole; where the "rockstars" and other prima donnas of software may blindly forge ahead, trusting in their own arrogance, he knows when to take a step back, refocus, and ask the questions that matter. He diverges from the norm with his regard to the business side of development - he always "keeps one eye on the customer" during design through planning to execution, and has caught a number of potentially serious issues very early in the development process as a result. The only advice I could possibly offer Alden would be to remember the work-life balance: all the talent in the world can't prevent burn-out, and you have too bright a future to allow that to happen.
