Engineering researcher for Flat Hull Ship Project I am helping the research team to improve the design capabilities for flat hull design ships in terms of hydrostatic data, hull resistance and power estimation, CFD analysis, Equilibrium condition, 3D construction profile, and stability criteria. The software that was used for this work is Rhino, Sketch-up, Maxsurf, Star CCM+, and Navcad. The flat hull design in this project is for fishing vessels and tourism boats. The project is to elaborate and search valuable data to be analyzed for future improvement in design. The first design for the flat hull ship is discovered and developed by Mr. Hadi T.W., M.T. who already passed away, this project is continued by a small group of researchers at the University of Indonesia consist of students, lecturers, and engineers because the project is becoming National Research Project under Ministry of Research and Technology Republic of Indonesia.

I was working as a freelancer to provide 3D design of multi-hull aluminium construction using Rhino and improve the load case of the ship to predict the trim and stability criteria using Maxsurf Stability software.I was helping to estimate the weight of the fibreglass boat to predict the resistance and the power requirement for a solar-powered boat, including the trim angle.I was calculating the scantling calculation of a catamaran solar-powered boat with ISO 12215 standard for small craft.In this job, I should communicate with the other team members to provide the internal 3D structure for interior design and to the other manufacturer about the construction profile.

I designed and managed the construction process for HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene)boats. I was making the rendered design of the 3D model of HDPE boats with Sketchup and Rhino to be provided by the marketing team for the proposal requirement. I was using maxsurf to design the main hull, stability characteristic, resistance and power, longitudinal strength, and the equilibrium position of the HDPE boat. This work made the hull design process much faster and reliable data for the company. I provided the company using the ISO standard, Indonesian Classification Society, and B.V. Classification for scantling calculation. Furthermore, I designed an inboard and outboard engine system, simple water cooling, freshwater system, and other equipment to support the boat accommodations. I was conducting the leakage test with the penetrant to check the welded HDPE boat is in good condition. I have finished converting an HDPE boat to accommodate 20 passengers design with a different superstructure made by fibreglass. This work has been done using multiple software and managing the master schedule of the boat production.

I am able to teach and manage around 50 students to complete their task. I become an assistant for ship design courses and ship visualization & modelling course. I teach the students to understand the manual calculation for the ship design process (the main dimension, stability, cross curve, hydrostatic curve, resistance, propeller design, ship systems, hull scantling (construction design and plate thickness), hull strength and ship launching calculation). I learn how to design various vessels such as commercial vessels (ore carrier, container, ferry, and bulk carrier).
