What sets me apart as a pre medical student, is my ability to understand and connect with people. I am approachable and passionate about my future work. Two things I pride myself on are self motivation and critical thinking skills. My compassion for others and understanding increased as I worked with students in SVU’s Department of Accessibility. In my year and a half of this position my ability to connect and engage with my students has improved greatly. I’ve learned about professionalism and how important strong one on one relationships are. As I wrap up my Bachelors in Biology this year with a projected 3.9 GPA, it has been demonstrated to me the power of hard work and discipline. Being a student volunteer for the Remote Area Medical (RAM) Clinics allowed me to experience medicine in a personal way. RAM has provided me with increased compression for patients and understanding of what it means to be a good medical provider. I earned my Phlebotomy Technical Certification in the midst of peak COVID-19. Since this was uncharted territory I learned about being flexible and being time conscious during lab practices.
