Dr. Horton is currently a provisionally licensed psychologist at the Florida Department of Corrections. She is passionate about mental health with experience in individual counseling, group counseling, treatment planning, crisis intervention, risk assessment, and psychological and forensic assessment. Dr. Horton utilizes an existential-humanistic framework, and is also well versed in cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and motivational interviewing. Her populations of interest include justice-involved adolescents and adults.Her research interests include cultural factors influencing intergroup relations among racial ethnic minority groups in the US, risk and resiliency factors associated with race-based trauma, and cultural competence training in counseling and psychology fields.
