I am a Enforcement Coordinator with over 11 years’ experience of management of unauthorised encampments within the county of Essex. I have accumulated a wealth of experience working to provide effective resolution of unauthorised Gypsy/Traveller encampments for the Essex Countywide Traveller Unit (ECTU), which is made up of local authority partner funding.I started this role in October 2012 when the ECTU was formed, where I moved from my then role as site manager to several of the council owned traveller sites.The role entails the gathering of site intelligence that can be used to initiate a legal repossession of the impacted council land by any illegal encampment. This comprises of several site visits to conduct land searches, human rights assessment, welfare checks, preparation of legal documents, service of all legal documents including court orders and arrangement of Bailiff action to resolve the affected area to its natural state.The job requires superb written and verbal communication skills to liaise to a wide range of internal and external groups of the following; Members of the public, partner contacts, internal line staff/managers, legal contacts, police, local councillors and members of parliament.
