Based within the Surveyors dept, overseeing in excess of 4,000 units within Harlow, Essex. Bulk of works Involve the implementation of condition surveys, defect analysis and finance management for planned, cyclical and responsive repair works to private/social housing and public buildings (including listed buildings) and structures. The maintenance and project management of major estate works including demolition works and new buildings (subject to business case appraisal and agreement). This post also includes for the enforcement of contracts and the specification of works to Direct Labour and Contractors either already appointed or awarded contracts via the tender process.

I held responsibility for the asset management of 91 stations, 2 Light Maintenance Train Depots and a variety of Lineside Operational Buildings in the Thames Valley which included the inspection and programming of the repair and renewal works to fulfil Network Rail's Maintenance obligations. This involved identifying defects and specifying the remediation works as necessary. In addition this role involved Technical Review and Approval of Landlord's Consent Refurbishment Schemes and Enhancement Schemes to the operational property asset

My job title at LUL was “Outside Parties Engineer – Infrastructure Protection”. In this role I held responsibility for protecting LUL’s operational infrastructure (including tunnels, structures and stations) from potential or actual risk of harm from construction and development activities being undertaken by parties other than LUL which have the potential to impact on the safe and efficient operation of the London Underground system. In this role I liaised regularly with developers, contractors and their consultant teams in connection with various types of construction projects, including new tunnelling works; retail, commercial and residential developments; and new bridge structures, which could impact on the railway infrastructure. I have to ensure that before any relevant works are undertaken, a risk assessment is carried out and an appropriate package of mitigation and protective measures are put in place and then properly implemented when the relevant works are undertaken, through to completion
