I work as the play-by-play announcer for Penn State Behrend athletics. My job is to announce games and relay information to the audience listening. This job includes a lot of preparation work such as memorizing rosters for proper name pronunciation, collecting statistics about the teams, and creating a storyline for each game. Having all of this preparation is crucial so I can properly inform my audience about what is happening in the game. I announce basketball and volleyball games for both the men's and women's teams on campus.

This job requires me to do a variety of things depending on the night. I work as part of the promo crew which puts together, plans, and executes the on-ice games in-between periods. On other nights I work in the team's store where I greet fans, recommend items in the store, handle money, and organize the store. This is very different from promo crew but just as much important in the role it plays in the fan experience.

I worked in the snack bar and my tasks ranged anywhere from taking out the trash to helping run the projector. In the last year of employment, I was moved to manager. This position was to be able to help my boss if and when he was preoccupied with other tasks. In this position, I was in charge of delegating tasks and making sure everything was running smoothly. I would have closing responsibilities which included cleaning, both the snack bar and field, helping guests get out safely, shutting down the projector, and locking everything up.

My job was to attend high school sporting events and report the game for the town's newspaper. I reported on basketball, volleyball, baseball, and softball games and wrestling matches. I would take notes during the game, take pictures of game action, and interview the coaches to help add to my story. Following games, I would collect all of the information I collected and put it into my story. This position taught me how to work in an unpredictable and fast-paced work environment.
