Responsible for overseeing and implementing the organization’s compliance program across academic, clinical, and research areas. This includes managing reporting on conflicts of interest and risks, developing and delivering compliance training, and leading investigations into alleged policy violations. Led by the President and CEO with direct reporting to the Board of Trustees. Partners with and supports all internal departments, with significant collaboration with the Office of General Counsel, Human Resources, and IT. Additionally, oversees all privacy functions, specifically HIPAA and FERPA compliance, along with GDPR when and where applicable.

Served as institutional privacy officer while managing compliance across academic, clinical, and research areas, under the leadership of the Chief Compliance Officer. Developed policies and procedures to reduce organizational risk and achieved over 93% compliance in training and conflict of interest disclosures within the first two years. Conducted investigations into alleged violations of policies or laws, addressing potential legal risks and ensuring adherence to regulations in clinical and research practices.

Drafted, reviewed, and negotiated vendor contracts for both federal and state-level clients in Georgia and North Carolina, in addition to preparing documentation for Institutional Review Board (IRB) review. Also, created, maintained, and updated project dashboards, infographics and status reports, while advising business clients with practical solutions and guidance on contract-related inquiries.

Designed and implemented an efficient workflow that reduced errors and waste, resulting in nearly $300,000 in annual savings and improved productivity. Managed operations and system components to ensure deliverables met client contracts and federal regulations of Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), and HIPAA. Partnered with management and executive teams to identify risks, develop corrective actions, and update operational policies and procedures. Additionally, oversaw subcontractor development, training, and compliance, addressing privacy and legal requirements. Facilitated onsite audits and prepared reports on project progress, protocol compliance, and operational goals for regulatory agencies.

Developed, monitored, and implemented data collection, program evaluation, and statistical analysis for healthcare providers serving high-risk HIV patients, using the findings to guide program development and funding decisions. Led focus groups with high-risk populations, expanding access to essential support services and improved management protocols, resulting in increased state funding for Fulton County’s Ryan White Program. Prepared and presented detailed care data and research findings and facilitated training sessions for HIV care leadership, staff and community peers. Additionally, contributed as an author to the first epidemiological profile of HIV/AIDS for the Atlanta Metropolitan area.

Under the supervision of an attorney, represented low-income clients in cases related to childhood disability, education, and housing. Analyzed and interpreted complex legislation and regulations, crafting written legal briefs to advocate for clients who had applied for and been denied Social Security Disability benefits. Won desired outcome for client from Administrative Judge in hearing.

Assisted public health lawyers in managing a workgroup of public health and legal professionals to develop competency training and guidance on public health emergency preparedness. Conducted policy research and evaluations to ensure legal compliance of public health initiatives within local jurisdictions. Also, prepared and presented educational materials for students and attendees at the CDC’s Disease Detective Camp.

A principal advisor for strategic planning of program goals and policies, coordinating community coalition activities in alignment with the Adolescent Trials Network research protocol from the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). Led training, consultation, and technical assistance to support initiatives aimed at reducing HIV among adolescents, using data and root cause analysis to guide efforts. As a liaison to Tulane University’s Institutional Review Board (IRB), ensured the accurate completion and maintenance of IRB forms and exemptions. Additionally, led a community coalition to draft and implement legislation in Louisiana and drove structural changes within the local community to mitigate HIV spread among adolescents.
