As the research coordinator for a national Indigenous hepatitis C network, I have a variety of roles including:- Coordinating research and grant proposals for a national network of Indigenous hepatitis C researchers- Organizing and analyze sharing circles to synthesize a national Indigenous hepatitis C strategy- Developing programs and evaluation frameworks to implement components of the national strategy- Preparing proposals and grant writing

As part of the Institute of Aboriginal People's Health, my responsibilities range from providing support with meetings and conference organization, providing research summaries, and engaging with multiple research projects within the Institute.

As a teaching assistant I provided support approximately 115 students for a 3rd year Research Methods course. The Health Sciences Graduate Caucus promotes and represents the interests of graduate students within the Faculty of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University and undertakes projects which reflect the objectives or interests of its members. It aims to provide academic, social and recreational activities for its members and aims to promote and advocate for a sense of community among public health professionals. As the executive coordinator of the caucus, my role was mainly to ensure the requirements of the constitution and the caucus were carried out and to represent the caucus as needed.Responsibilities:- Prepared agendas and chair all meetings of the Caucus- Coordinated activities of the Caucus- Represented the Caucus to any Department, or to any Departmental Committee where a representative cannot attend- Ensured that all representatives report back to the membership- Organized fund raising activities- Coordinated student orientation- Sat on the student committee for Simon Fraser's Masters in Public Health 2015 Council on Education of Public Health accreditation process - Organized Sun Run faculty and student team

The Access Summer Camp Support team at West Vancouver works to promote the philosophy of inclusion and prioritizes finding ways to help all children have fun with their peers and participate to the best of their ability in camp activities.Access Support Workers work one-to-one with children who require extra support to participate in day-camps. In order to complete this role, the Access Support Workers are trained by the Access Services Coordinator to promote inclusion and work with children who require extra support.Responsibilities:- Organized and ran camp staff training session about inclusion and working with children who face extra challenges- Received applications and created a flexible schedule to accommodate all applications- Liaised with parents and camp program planners to place children in appropriate day camps- Held meetings with parents and children to proactively determine behavioural triggers, as well as child's motivators, strengths and weaknesses- Provided extra support to camp staff when they were faced with behavioural challenges - Creatively problem solved with access support team when conflict or unforeseen challenges arose- Mentored volunteers and work experience students- Worked as a team with the Access Services Coordinator, other Access Support Workers, Volunteer Coordinator, and Camp Program Planners to coordinate services- Created an end of summer report and presentation for the West Vancouver Community Centres Society Board

As a practicum student at Vancouver Coastal Health working with the Population Health Team, I was responsible for completing a nine-week long project aimed at addressing food security in social housing in British Columbia through capacity building and knowledge translation. The project aimed to work with social housing providers to expand their ability to provide health housing environments for tenants through increasing food security.Responsibilities:- Organized and conducted interviews and focus groups with social housing providers across British Columbia- Analyzed and summarized qualitative data from interviews and focus groups- Led conference calls with key stakeholders to determine the organizational context for food security in social housing- Created a strategic plan for building the capacity of social housing providers to provide healthy housing environments

I worked to support an MD/PhD student with a project which looked at community- acquired methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in drug-using individuals in Vancouver's Downtown East Side. I provided additional assistance on two practicum projects and a mail survey to physicians about Lyme disease.Responsibilities:-

Helped create and organized a national spinal cord injury database. Worked independently to gather and organize research articles for multiple projects. Worked with a multi-disciplinary team to create protocols for evaluating research articles.
