Particulate and Reaction Engineering Research: • Development and implementation of computational techniques for the solution of population balance equations (univariate and multivariate) describing particle size distributions and integration with other models (e.g., particle models, CFD, DEM). • Detailed dynamic modelling of emulsion, precipitation, and suspension polymerization reactors • End-use properties (rheology, morphology, stability)Selected Activities:• Prepared multi-party proposals for European projects and participated in European research programs in the areas of biomedical and particulate engineering. • Recently submitted research proposals include: scale-up of pharmaceutical process, worker exposure to nanoparticles, drug delivery of anti-angiogenesis carriers, new biomaterials for cardiovascular stents, modelling of nanotoxicology, modelling of rheumatoidal arthritis. • Collaborated with colleagues in the management and execution of research programs involving industrial partners. • Designed and coordinated experimental studies and prepared detailed reports and presentations for European and Industrial projects.

Respiratory Physiology and Health, Disease simulation, Original creative insights

RespiFit is tackling two huge problems:1. Intelligent monitoring of asthma in order to reduce hospitalizations and deaths and improve quality of life for those with asthma2. Instant detection of TB dispersed in air in order to reduce transmission an ddeaths and help eradicate TB in the near future

Lecturer for the class of “Modeling of Dynamic Systems” in the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Western Macedonia, (Fall 2006 to Fall 2009). Developed new course material including lecture notes, problems, and computer projects (conducted in MATLAB).

Investigated the rheology of dense dispersions and particle migration phenomena. Conducted theoretical studies of rapid granular flow of binary dense dispersions.

Part-time consultant for Terronics. Assisted in the development of electrostatic sprayers for aqueous and organic fluids.
