My name is Alec Proeh and I am a business student at the University of Indiana's Kelley business school . I believe that throughout my life certain situations have molded me into the human being that I am. They have shaped and structured me leaving me with positives and negatives, never the less, creating my character. I am a creative, open minded, patient, determined and caring individual, but all of those characteristics were not instilled at birth, but from personal circumstances. This past last year I had the opportunity to work a full time job at Abt appliance and electronics in the Chicago land area. This was my third year working for Abt, but my first year working full time. I had been moved to the appliance service department, a job foreign to my expertise. Despite my impatience and annoyance with the attitudes some customers had, I was forced to adapt to the situation. Whenever I felt stressed or angry I implemented a breathing technique, counting ten times while staring at a fixed object as I waited for my rapid heart rate to slow. I became much more concerned with the task at hand and much less concerned about the actions of others. Using my creativity to strengthen my flaws, creating a successful environment for myself in the work place. Throughout my life I have also been very involved with sports. My brother and I received fourth in the state of Indiana for men’s doubles, accompanied by first time all state and academic all-state awards. These awards have a special place inside of me showing the proof of hard work. I remember countless hours on the court, perfecting technique, increasing my footwork speed, and raising my tennis IQ. All of this practice was in effort to achieve the goal of success. Without hard work and perseverance, my tennis game would be the same now as it was when I was a freshman in High School.
