SabbaticalSelf Jun 2022 - Aug 2022I’ll be taking this entire summer for a sabbatical. I’m thinking of this as a sort of independent study opportunity. I’m typing this from a rooftop tent atop my Subaru Outback, somewhere in the San Isabel Mountains near Crestone, CO (and yes, I brought my computer sue me). Tomorrow, I’ll get close enough to town to get a couple bars on my phone, and I’ll settle in to work on my 200-hour online yoga teacher certification. When I need to take a break, I’ll go for a hike, set up a slackline, listen to my audiobook (Louise Erdrich, Future Home of the Living God, beautiful and perfect for this trip), do some yoga on my own, eat some meals, and go to bed - and I’ll do it every day this week. I’ll complete that 200-hour course this month or next, and do another one in September; I’ll take a job at the front desk of a climbing gym, or as a server at a restaurant, and I’ll begin to follow my path by pursuing the thing that helped me, even during the darkest hour of the pandemic, feel stable and strong: yoga. I’ll do a whole other post (probably a lot of them, actually) about yoga soon. Right now, I have a long post to wrap up.Goodbye to the Gill Foundation, and thanks for all the laughs, the tears (I liked the laughs better than the tears), the lessons, and heck, the money weren’t too bad neither. Hello, whatever… this is!
