I realized I wanted to pivot back to covering news in a Northeast major city, either New York or Washington, D.C., and I wanted to be closer to my family, which experienced a string of losses in short succession in late 2018.I left my local news job at the end of 2018 and moved back near my family in the Philadelphia area without anything lined up.
