My career has been filled with different leadership roles. I have learned that different situations call for different types of leadership. As far back as high school and collegiate tennis, as the teams' captain, I led as a facilitator, listening to the more experienced player's ideas and figuring out how to best implement them. I have lead by example in groups where I am the most experienced. I have lead by pulling the team to the finish line when working on projects without a lot of buy-in. But my preferred leadership style is that of servant leader. The goal is to help the team and team members grow towards their potential. I've done this as a scrum master by removing roadblocks in a project also by stepping back to allow for some creative design work or stepping in and giving someone direction. Each situation is different and each team member is different. Thus, I enjoy leading because when done well, you see people flourish.
