About Aled Evans
I am a highly motivated and charismatic MChem graduate from the University of York with a keen interest in organic synthesis and its applications within medicinal chemistry. I have experience in applying my knowledge of organic synthesis to small molecule and PROTAC based projects.Specialised in biological and medicinal chemistry. During my 3rd year project, I worked under the supervision of Dr Julia Sarju and Professor Peter O’Brien to develop novel small molecule inhibitors for the eumycetoma fungal infection, a prominent disease in poverty stricken countries. Their efficacy is currently under investigation via in vitro trials. Completed a year in industry as a synthetic organic chemist within the chemical biology department at LifeArc. With supervision from Dr James Sanderson I worked on the development of a library of PROTAC molecules to improve LifeArc’s targeted protein degradation capabilities. My literature review was titled ‘Exploring Approaches to the Discovery of Novel Molecular Glue Degraders’.
