Aleena Khan is a development professional with expertise in social and policy research, project management and advocacy. Currently, she is helping build a dynamic, inclusive and connected ecosystem for startups and investors as the Head of Programs at Invest2Innovate (i2i). Before joining i2i, Khan supported the design and implementation of United States Institute of Peace (USIP)'s gender and police reforms portfolio in Pakistan. As a youth and gender consultant at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), she also spearheaded the design of "Ba-Ikhtiyar Naujawan Program", a $23 million national-level internship program for 40,000 young graduates across Pakistan which was launched by Pakistan's Federal Ministry of Planning and Development Initiatives in April, 2023.Prior to starting her post-grad journey, as a program analyst at USIP, Khan developed and oversaw partnerships with think tanks, civil society organisations, social start-ups, human rights activists, education and gender experts, and youth networks working towards building a more tolerant, peaceful and inclusive Pakistan. Over her two year tenure at USIP, she directly supervised the design and execution of 21 projects worth $1 million with partners across Pakistan.Khan joined USIP after working for three years in research, advocacy, and community engagement at Alif Ailaan, a political advocacy campaign for education reforms in Pakistan. As community engagement manager, she led a team of 42 education champions who spearheaded education campaigns in 155 national constituencies during Pakistan’s 2018 general elections.Khan has a master's in comparative social research from the Higher School of Economics, Moscow, and a bachelor's in public administration from the National University of Sciences and Technology, Islamabad. Her notable contributions in research include the Pakistan District Education Rankings 2016 Report, which was published by Alif Ailaan and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI). Khan’s key research and policy interests include social, political and economic inclusion of women and youth in Pakistan.
