Alejandra Castro is the Vice President of International Affairs & Sustainability Strategy at Bayer, a global enterprise with core competencies in the Life Science fields of health care and agriculture. In her role, Alejandra is responsible of the engagement with International Organizations and Global Sustainability Platforms to work on common goals on sustainable agriculture and business transformation in agriculture. Through her role at Bayer, some of Alejandra’s goals involve leading through positivity, highlighting the innovative advances of technology in agriculture, climate resilient innovations, and providing clear dialogue to trending topics in the ag space to shape the future of agriculture by fostering strong partnerships with different stakeholders. She also has a passion for legal topics; specifically in intellectual property, trade and biotechnology, which she brings to the agriculture industry through her role.Before joining Bayer, Alejandra held roles such as being the Corporate Affairs Director for Central America & Caribbean at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. She also was a professor at LEAD University for over six years and more than 15 years at the National University. She was responsible for leading the opening of the insurance market in Costa Rica, leading the implementation of the main trade agreements with the region. At Bayer, she has held several positions including being the Head of Legal, Patents & Compliance for several major regions, and IP Head for Latam North.In addition to her work, Alejandra has a passion for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the workplace, especially uplifting women’s leadership voices within the agricultural space.
