The Project Rebound (PR) Outreach/Retention Counselor position is responsible for counseling and advising including, but not limited to, prospective applicants, external partners on admission-related issues; and participating in various recruitment and outreach yield activities for Project Rebound. Incumbent will work with formerly incarcerated, and system impacted students. The position advises prospective students on the requirements for admission to the University. The position assist with the marketing and communication efforts for the Project Rebound, especially as it relates to community colleges, strategic partners, high schools, continuation high schools, county court schools and community organizations. Incumbent has a professional level of expertise in all areas of admissions for freshman and transfer applicants, and a comprehensive knowledge of educational support processes. The position also provides retention services such as personal, academic, financial and success counseling; develops and implements retention strategies and services for PR students.

- Schedule, proctor, processes and provide assessments for individuals and groups- Advise students and provide referrals to appropriate resources identified as a result of a student’s assessment and placement- Assist students with the enrollment and financial aid processes- Install and troubleshoot computer software used for testing by high schools and testing centers- Outreach and collaborate with near by high school districts seeking clarification on the admissions and enrollment process for Palomar College

- Tutor K-12 Migrant Education Students in the subjects of Math, English, Language Arts, and Social Sciences- Complete 8 home visits per academic school year and how many are needed during the summer vacation time- Assist with parent workshops on the subject of student mental health and well being and parent involvement in academics- Assist in 4 week long summer STEAM academies - Collect data for direction of funds and program actitivities

- Tutor K-12 Migrant Education Students in the subjects of Science, Math, History, Language Arts and Social Sciences- Complete 8 home visits a year- Teacher Assistant inside the classroom- Create lesson plans to teach a group of 8 students or more- Assist my supervisor with creating budgets, calendars and meeting dates

- STEAM exploration instructor- Intervention specialist- Founding member of S.O.A.R. (Scholars On A Rise) a Latino male mentor program for 5th and 6th graders, initiated at Epiphany Prep Charter to increase the awareness of professionalism, academic opportunities and increase citizenship involvement in the Escondido community through community service and fundraising events. -Founded an after school college readiness initiative by borrowing strategies from the Advance Via Individual Determination (A.V.I.D.) initiative

- On call for any substitute opportunities in the Escondido Union High School District - Actively seeking long-term substitute opportunities

- Assist with workshops in leadership, community empowerment, social justice, education and undocumented youth- Advocated for at risk teenage youth and older citizens attempting to go back to school and earn their GEDs- Assisted with GED courses - Participated in committee meetings where we decided what programs we would begin and how our time in the community could be better spent- Performed community service in North and South County San Diego

-Made it a priority to involve the organization in culture related events on campus and off campus-Co-host culture events with other culture organizations such as Movimiento Estudiantil de Aztlan (M.E.Ch.A), Ballet Folklorico de CSUSM, Alpha Pi Sigma Sorority to name a few-Venture into other cultures and not only the Latino culture
