Tonga

Developed and implemented an English language curriculum for over a dozen teachers and 400+ students. Assessed student learning gaps, collected feedback from teachers, principals, and community stakeholders to create lessons and teaching materials still in use today. Raised the high school graduation rate to the second highest in Tonga by developing and managing an island-wide system of night classes in coordination with teachers, families, and community leaders. Applied for funding and monitored use of grants for multiple orgs ranging from government entities to community organizations.

Directed the 2015 Native American Youth Enrichment Program to improve educational outcomes for approximately 40 low-income Native American youth ages 5-13 in the Boston area. Supervised and mentored a staff of 4 college-aged counselors and 4 high school-aged junior counselors. Led a classroom with 3-4 counselors for 15 hours/week at the Mission Hill After School Program, as well as providing 1:1 teaching with around 50 students. Worked with around 40 students at Franklin After School Exploration in both 1:1 and group settings to significantly improve their math and reading skills.
