Alejandro Ibarra is the Global Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Officer at HIVOS in the Global Project: Urban Futures; Youth Action for Inclusive Climate Resilient Cities, which focuses on inclusive climate-resilient food systems in 5 countries across three regions. The program is built upon Climate Justice and Gender approaches at its core. Alejandro started his career in 2013 as the Monitoring & Evaluation Assistant at the Small Grants Programme (SGP/GEF/UNDP). He gained experience overseeing all aspects of Design, Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (DMEL). He was the project manager of the Ecuadorian Amazon portfolio with a multi-stakeholder approach, working with over 50 communities from 6 indigenous nationalities in biodiversity conservation and bio-entrepreneurship. In 2022, he began working as a DMEL officer in the All Eyes on the Amazon (AEA) Program that focused on preventing the deforestation of 6.9 million hectares of tropical forest by defending the rights of 373 indigenous communities in Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil.
