We are currently designing an In-Vitro diagnostic medical device for the automated analysis, by means of Raman Spectroscopy, of human blood samples with the purpose of diagnosing MCI against other types of dementia and healthy patients.My responsibilities and duties as Head of the Engineering/Design department of Raman Health Technologies are: •Manage the design process of the automated equipment based on contractual and technical expertise (the design input and output, validation and revision).•Lead the adequate design transfer to the assigned subcontractor.•Give support to the QA Manager during design-scope audits to suppliers.•Ensure that the design process recognizes the current legislation, applicable standards and customer requirements.•Ensure design information is of the right quality and aligned with the quality objectives and policies governing the company.•Prepare, supervise and approve the related technical documentation.•Lead the risk management processes affecting the design and security of the equipment.•Analyze the technology and resources needed to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.•Plan the installation, testing, operation, maintenance and repair processes of the equipment.

Part of the scientific team designing the Raman Laser Spectrometer (RLS) instrument on board ESA/NASA 2020 ExoMars mission to Mars.I developed a Martian Atmosphere Simulation Chamber for simulating the scientific operations to be performed inside the Analytical Laboratory Drawer (ALD) of the ExoMars rover as part of my PhD Thesis during this period.

I built a vacuum chamber to simulate the Mars atmospheric conditions and take LIBS spectra of different samples as science support activities for Chemcam in the Mars Science Laboratory (MSL). A scientific paper resulted from this collaboration: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.pss.2016.04.003
