ASTY, from the Ancient Greek term ἄστυ that meant “the totality of urban buildings and spaces”, is a real estate development firm based in Guatemala City. As project manager (currently working on Torre Martí: goo.gl/CgaWhr), my role is to coordinate engineering professionals for an efficient and successful execution of projects, ensuring that designs comply with codes and regulations. As co-founder, I help shape the organization’s values, strategies and long-term plans. Our objective is to contribute to the creation of more prosperous, functional and sustainable cities.

RGxCS was created to serve as a citizen platform that informs, inspires, and influences the creation of more sustainable cities in Guatemala. My current role is to ensure the continuation of existing programs, identify and evaluate new initiatives, and find synergy opportunities with other organizations. I have written opinion pieces in online magazines, organized and participated in events, and helped establish a program of weekly free-walking tours in Guatemala City called “La Ciudad A Pie” (fanpage: goo.gl/7YnV1t), which explores its history from the public space and sheds light on current problems and possible solutions.

• Propose design and construction strategies, perform calculations, and develop supporting documentation for projects pursuing LEED certification. • Project Manager and main LEED consultant of 5 LEED certified projects, which represent over 50% of the total certified projects in Guatemala. Currently working on the certification of 6th project.• Develop, plan, coordinate and administer programs related to sustainability at the office. Implemented a recycling program, administered the carbon footprint measurement of office operations, instituted BMPs within the area of sustainability at construction sites, hold monthly educational sessions for all employees concerning sustainability and green building practices.• Coordinate engineering professionals for an efficient and successful execution of projects, based on a given architectural design.• Supervise and ensure that designs comply with Municipal Codes and regulations.
