I am a scientist and inventor experienced in public health and infectious diseases surveillance. I have always worked on the interface of distinct domains such as academia and industry, science and public health institutions (General Sanitary Inspectorate, Ministry of Health), at the national level and international level (World Health Organization). I was involved in design and successful implementation of emergency COVID-19 surveillance system in Polish Police. I have experience in monitoring of pathogens emerging due to climate change.I author over 30 scientific papers and three patents I am familiar with all aspects of molecular diagnostic methods: design, application, validation, auditing, patenting, publishing papers in peer reviewed journals and the process of CE IVD certification. I was a leader of team of eighteen scientists and technicians. I am currently involved in developing forensic tools based on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and DNA methylation analysis.I served as a doctoral thesis supervisor, I have been a reviewer for many scientific journals.It's the curiosity that drives me, I enjoy intersectoral collaboration and work on the interface of science, public health, industry and policy making. Biology SpecialistCentral Forensic Laboratory Of The Police Apr 2020 - PresentWarsaw, Mazowieckie, PolandI currently work in R&D project on development of forensic tools for age and lifestyle prediction based on DNA methylation status.I had opportunity to use my experience in: laboratory diagnostics, disease surveillance and collaboration with General Sanitary and World Health Organization to work in the team creating a fully functional disease surveillance system in a non-medical organization – Polish Police.The system we designed was successfully implemented and allowed Polish National Police to maintain continuity of operations and reopen police academies during the pandemic. To my knowledge it is the first such country-wide, fully functional pandemic emergency response system created by any police in the world.

During 1,5 year I had to deal with two pandemics: measles and COVID-19. The National Institute of Public Health – National Institute of Hygiene was undergoing structural changes at that time which was an extra burden at the time of pandemics. Nevertheless, my team and I managed to maintain continuity of our operations, fulfill new duties imposed by COVID-19 pandemics and successfully pass both ISO audit and evaluation by The European Regional Verification Commission for Measles and Rubella.

In the European region there are 73 such laboratories in 53 countries. The main goals of the National Measles and Rubella Laboratory was to participate in WHO measles and rubella elimination program which included: detection measles and rubella outbreaks, tracking routes of transmission, genotyping the viruses for molecular epidemiology purposes. The results of molecular and serological measles and rubella surveillance were reported to WHO.

I had an opportunity to collaborate with numerous WHO organized trainings and meetings. Together with professor Lidia Brydak we established new influenza virus sequencing facility and started medical diagnostic device evaluation for manufacturers.
