Improving the performance of state-of-the-art industrial light-emitting devices with resonant optical nanostructures (collaboration with Lumileds Holding B.V.).-Development of semi-analytical models for predicting the performance of InGaN/GaN QW-based LEDs with integrated metasurfaces.-Global optimization of the metasurface design.-Development of optical setups and experimental characterization of the InGaN/GaN QW-based LEDs with integrated metasurfaces.

My project is focused on the design, fabrication and characterization of novel silicon and GaAs based nanophotonic devices.1) Engineering light-emitting metasurfaces with desired spectral and directional properties.-Comprehensive FEM (COMSOL) and FMM simulations for device design and performance optimization-Development of analytical models for low-cost approximate performance predictions with Wolfram Mathematica2) Fabrication of GaAs metasurfaces.-Electron Beam lithography -Dry etching processes for III-V alloys-Scanning Electron Microscopy inspection of the samples3) Optical characterization.-Design, setup and alignment of optical measurement platforms (proof-of-concept systems and to evaluate performance)-Optical microscopy and spectroscopy with FTIR and Czerny-Turner based spectrometers (including setup up, alignment and calibration of the instruments)-Other advanced optical measurement techniques such as Time-resolved spectroscopy and Ultrafast spectroscopy using Ti:Sapphire Laser and Optical Parametric Amplifiers. -Data acquisition automation with LabView and data analysis with MATLAB
