My interest in tourism started early when I realized that the place, I come from was a tourist destination. Growing up in an environment where much of the local community's income came from tourism made me naturally want to learn more about it.I gained my first experience in the field of hotel management when I started studying at a secondary school with a tourist and hotel profile in Gdynia, Poland. It gave me a chance to acquire theoretical knowledge as well as several-month internships in one of the most famous and prestigious seaside resorts at that time.Coming to Scotland brought with it many new opportunities. I was employed at the well-known Marriott Hotel in Glasgow. It was the first opportunity for me to take independent steps in my professional career. What I liked most about this job was working with people and interacting with hotel guests. Each day was different and brought different challenges. It was a very useful and breakthrough period in my life, and the experience and skills acquired at that time are the core of my personality today.The curiosity to learn about other experiences contributed to my employment in a reputable medical company. I spent many years there, thus learning many manual skills, communication, teamwork, planning and time management. Working as a member of a large team contributed to many of the department's successes, however, after many years of employment, it was no longer enough for me.Returning to education as a mature student was not easy but it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I had to manage my family life and find the right balance to be successful in my learning and personal progress. I gained confidence and discovered qualities in myself that I did not know I had. Today I can proudly say that I graduated from college with HND in Travel and Tourism. This positive experience of gaining knowledge and qualifications had a huge impact on me. I believed in myself and continued personal development became a priority for me.Today I enjoy learning new skills through experiences but also, but I like to challenge myself which forces me to step out of my comfort zone. Continuation of studies in the field of Tourism Management is proof of my determination, perseverance, and ambition. Studying the course degree at university is for me a continuation of unfinished aspirations and motivation to achieve my intended career goal within the tourism industry.
