About Aleksandra Markovic

I was born in Serbia, but I've spent a lot of my professional and academic years between Serbia - North Macedonia. I currently live in Germany, Neuss, doing my master's studies.I would say I am an artistic soul. I love traveling and experiencing new cultures. I don't like unkindness, prejudices, and overconfident people. I am an open-minded person and as such, I appreciate constructive criticism and honest opinions. If I have to sum up my biggest strength, I would say it is helping others fall in love with learning and experiencing all the wonders of a new language. I always thought my dream job was to be a teacher. It seemed like an appropriate dream given my BA in English language and literature. I am an experienced EFL teacher, and I teach Chinese kids English. It is a fulfilling job. To me, a language is a form of art, so everything within it is enchanting. That's why I decided to obtain my TEFL certificate, too.I strive to prove to myself that I can achieve more, and gain a broader specter of knowledge. I enjoyed my studies so much, so after doing my BA, I enrolled at the Univerisity of Cologne, to do my master's studies in General Linguistics. I am passionate about that particular field of study as well. I also took part in various programs such as volunteering, teaching kids for free, writing my teaching materials, and raising funds for new school programs in my hometown. Aside from teaching English, I do translation-related jobs, research in linguistics and proofreading, PR, editing, and writing. It's powerful to be part of something that enhances someone's desire to learn, expand their knowledge, and use newfound skills properly. I pride myself on being dedicated to my profession. I am actively searching for jobs that include: - English as a foreign language teacher- Lexicography- Public relations - Publishing copy-editing/proofreading- Academic research- Translation Reach me on:LinkedIn Messageemail: aleksandra_markovic@aol.com

I did several promotions in my classes for my students to get the opportunity to choose me as their teacher. In my advertising, I gave examples and overall representation of how I teach; techniques, stimulating and interesting classes, TPR, use of props, personal approach, and how I teach aspects of the English language, such as grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary expansion, punctuation, comprehension, etc. I created a learning atmosphere in which my students feel relaxed, and most importantly, it's a friendly environment. I aimed to keep new students as my regulars and to help them acquire as much as they can through fun but at the same time productive classes in the classroom where they feel welcomed and pushed to learn better by encouragement and proper guidance.

  • Native Camp
    English Second Language Tutor
    Native Camp Mar 2018 - Jan 2019
NativeCamp is one of the leading online English education platforms in Asia. The platform was created for busy business professionals, students, and others who need to learn or improve their English skills. This was one of my most interesting job experiences, because I taught adults and children, too. I was providing lessons one on one, preparing students for IELTS or TOEFL tests, doing free talks, teaching business English, testing basic, intermediate, and advanced levels of English, etc. The achievements I got from this job were rewarding. I worked with many students which later became almost native speakers and passed their final tests and adults who found jobs thanks to this learning experience. Also, I learned a lot about different approaches, methods, and the pros and cons of teaching online.
  • Iff International Institute For Field Research
    Call Center Agent
Iff International Institute For Field Research May 2016 - Nov 2016
IFF is a specialized multilingual agency in CATI market research and conducts 300 market research per year and 800k phone interviews by 500 interviewers. People leading the team are well-organized and success-driven. They offer possibilities to grow professionally and their connections to the local communities are also beneficial. RESPONSIBILITIESHandling many inbound and outbound calls to and from customersListening to customers' needs or issues and providing helpful solutions to their problemsConducting surveys to get the community's opinion on selected topicsDe-escalating situations involving dissatisfied customers, offering patient assistance and supportHelping to train new employees and inform them about the company’s customer management policiesCalling clients and customers to inform them about the company’s new products, services, and policiesACHIEVEMENTSAlthough it was a part-time job, I loved it. I worked in a call center setting surrounded by other call center employees answering customers’ questions. We all had chosen topics on which we did questionnaires, and I did several different ones, such as politics, religion, health care, law, etc. I usually followed a script with prepared questions based on the topics. After working closely with the customers to gain more insight into their opinions regarding health care issues, I also got to sell additional products that may benefit the customers and may receive additional compensation for this sale which was good because a lot of people didn't have health insurance. I was responsible for keeping records of information received in conversations and logging it into the call center database. That way the agency can do a lot of good things for citizens, giving them additional help, referrals, guidance, and freedom and space to express their concerns. My biggest achievement here was the ability to do just that - helping them in different ways.
