This project was completed for the Senior Capstone Design project requirements from the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Washington. On this project I worked on a team of students in developing surgical tool attachments for the Raven II surgical platform. The primary goal of this project was to design, develop and to bring to prototype a tool that would be able to securely hold a Scanning Fiber Endoscope (SFE) and a Ultrasonic Tissue Ablation System and be articulated by the Raven II robotic pincers. Working closely with the project sponsors, design team, medical professionals and graduate students we were able to develop and 3D print a full scale product, meeting all of the projects deadlines. During the duration of the project I learned many things about the medical devices market and what it takes to bring a product from prototype to a final marketable device. I was part of a small team of motivated students participating in undergraduate research and we designed/redesigned components for an Axial Flux Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) for the Northwest National Marine Renewable Energy Research Center. The generator would be attached to a helical turbine and would harness tidal energy and produce electrical power. I was tasked with working on the part dubbed the Bulkhead which attached to the stator plate and housed all the electrical connections. I also utilized my electrical engineering knowledge to identify issues in the wiring configuration since in preliminary tests the generator did not perform as expected. I was able to identify errors in the wiring configuration and solve the wiring issues. Upon further testing the generator produced the power it was expected to produce. Below is a summary of some of the responsibilities I had while working on this project.- Machined components to reduce costs and lead time- Performed FEA analysis to justify design changes- Identified issues in wiring configuration, provided timely and cost effective solution.- Successfully implemented recommended solutions- Material Sourcing/Purchasing- Generator Testing and trouble shooting

The goal of this project was to design and develop a prototype system that would offset the costs that farmers incur while irrigating their crops. One of the primary costs comes from running a large pump to feed water to the center pivot irrigation system. Our team developed a product and business plan that could be easily implemented by modern day farmers and would save the farmer thousands of dollars annually. This was the individual final project for my Heat Transfer Course (ME 331). The goal of this project was to find a everyday heat transfer problem and model it by implementing the concepts learned in class. The motivation for this project came about noticing that guitar amplifiers use vacuum tubes (an almost extinct technology) and they heat up and glow when operational. Attacking this problem i was able to model and understand the modes and effects of heat transfer between the vacuum tube and the surroundings. The project consisted of estimating heat transfer effects and validate them with a Comsol Multiphysics Model by building a 3D CAD replica and applying the proper constraints. The Attached file is the final report.
