Support of the `Windverkenning '(investigation of possible locations for wind turbines) Groningen in administration and finances.---In Groningen vinden we dat inwoners vroegtijdig moeten kunnen meedenken en meebeslissen of en onder welke voorwaarden windenergie mogelijk is. Dit is nieuw. De coöperatieve vereniging Grunneger Power, Natuur- en Milieufederatie Groningen en gemeente Groningen hebben de handen ineen geslagen om de haalbaarheid van windenergie te onderzoeken. Samen verkennen we welke mogelijkheden er zijn. Specifiek onderzoeken we het gebied Westpoort aan de A7 en het gebied Roodehaan/Stainkoel’n bij de A7. Dit doen we onder de noemer “Verkenning Windplatform”.

De gemeente Groningen wil in 2035 CO2-neutraal zijn. Dat wil zeggen dat alle energie die we gebruiken afkomstig is van duurzame bronnen. Die duurzame energie wekken we zoveel mogelijk op binnen de gemeentegrenzen. En we gaan fors besparen op het totale energiegebruik. Het doel om in 2035 CO2 neutraal te zijn, is al in 2011 door de gemeenteraad vastgesteld. In de afgelopen twee raadperiodes is er aan gewerkt. Er is het nodige bereikt, maar nog niet genoeg. We moeten meer doen. De klimaatverandering vraagt om ingrijpende keuzes. Iedereen krijgt ermee te maken. Bovendien gaat in Groningen de gaskraan dicht. Het gaat om grote opgaves en nieuwe kansen!
