Walking around in the rain with few possessions, I struggled to find a hotel for the night. I was in Amsterdam for the first time and only knew the dutch phrases at the back of my travel guide. However, there was no turning back or, more accurately, I would not allow myself to turn back. I went to the Netherlands to become a better engineer and study at one of the best engineering universities worldwide (and, to eat stroopwaffles). I was able to figure that out and I can figure anything else out that comes up in my life. This is why I dislike the question “Do you have experience with [Insert software/specialty here]?“ I have spent my time honing my mechanism design capabilities through my work at SpaceX, Sierra Nevada Corporation, the Naval Research Lab and Lockheed Martin. From that I have learned that the better question is “Do I have the drive to figure out how to complete a design?” (The answer is yes.) From glancing at my experience, I have quickly become proficient at many different specialties with the constant goal to further advance my ability as a mechanical engineer.I am trusted by my peers to act as a mediator when it comes to disagreements about the way to proceed when solving a problem. My knowledge of design practices and sound engineering has made me a go to resource for the people I work with. I have been used as a reference when peers are determining if they approached a problem in the correct way. I have advised on many subjects ranging from mechanical designs to determining if an analysis was correct to give an answer that was representative of the problem at hand.My ‘can do’ attitude translates directly in my life. Have you watched Cirque du Soleil and thought, ‘I could do that’! or read the travel costs and thought ‘I can travel cheaper than that’! (I have!)So, if you want to talk about mechanisms, setting up a trapeze at your house or need some advice on surviving the night in a Russian cargo ferry, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

Mechanical EngineerU.S. Naval Research Laboratory Feb 2017 - Mar 2018Washington, Dc, UsAs a handpicked engineer for the GeoRobotics program, I was tasked to lead the design effort to simulate, calibrate and test a robotic arm’s ability to use tools to service geosynchronous satellites. Designed and implemented structure, mechanisms, custom electrical harnesses and plastic and metallic 3-D printed parts for ground testing. Tools used include ACTIN, MATLAB and Siemens NX. -
Mechanical Engineering Graduate Student & Teaching AssistantEmbry-Riddle Aeronautical University Aug 2016 - Dec 2016Daytona Beach, Florida, UsAs a graduate student in Mechanical Engineer, I completed course work in Analytical Dynamics, Modeling and Simulation and Fatigue and Strength Analysis. Additionally, I am instructed Unmanned Autonomous Systems to teach students an overview of unmanned and autonomous vehicle systems including locomotion, software, sensing, and data analysis along with a laboratory to write software to implement these topics. -
Mechanical Engineering InternU.S. Naval Research Laboratory Mar 2016 - Aug 2016Washington, Dc, UsAs a graduate intern, I focused on two major projects: robotic quadruped design based on hydraulics and design of a robotic space arm in the DARPA funded GEO Robotics. For the quadruped, I designed, tested and implemented a 3D printed hydraulic manifold interface and familiarized myself with small scale hydraulics. For GEO Robotics, I produced the testing apparatus for inducing radiation to material samples and analyzed, using MATLAB, compliance control of robotic arm tool interface. -
Mechanical Engineer InternSierra Nevada Corporation May 2014 - Aug 2014Sparks, Nv, UsThe Dream Chaser is a reusable suborbital spacecraft design to transport astronaut to and from the International Space Station. As an intern working on the Dream Chaser Spacecraft Mechanism Team, I was responsible for assisting in MATLAB simulations for the flight control systems surfaces and actuators including rudder, elevons, and body flaps and to create software to analyze actuator testing. Specific Projects: Independently designed guided user interfaces for frequency response analysis of actuator command and response that computes solutions to user defined values, optimizes viewing windows given information and allows multiple files to be analyzed at once Reviewed and proofed requirements Requirement Development Management and Control Documents regarding the flight control surfaces and actuators Assisted Systems Engineer with layout of flight control actuator lab and wiring -
Electrical Engineer InternSpace Exploration Technologies Aug 2013 - Dec 2013Hawthorne, California, UsOn the Range and Communications team, I assisted in mission critical communication and data operations for Vandenberg's first Falcon 9.1 rocket testing and launch. This included hands-on wiring and quality control working hand and hand with experienced technicians to ensure the data cables from the umbilicals were successfully connected to the monitoring network. Here, I learned hands-on Aerospace grade soldering, shielding, testing, harnessing, connectors and being certified in operating a boom lift. After learning these skills an Vandenburg I was transported to Cape Canaveral for to assist in the ground hardware in Falcon Flight 7 and 8. -
Software Engineering InternLockheed Martin May 2013 - Aug 2013Bethesda, Md, UsAssisted in the test and verification of Lockheed Martin's fifth generation multirole fighter: the F-35 Lightning II. Individually designed a database GUI prototype for all verification test points to be later implemented on the Lockheed Martin database system and sent weekly flight test run reports. Training included F-35 three-day familiarization course and Foreign Object Debris/Damage Certification.
