The constant drive to face daily challenges and refine my software and collaborative skills assisted me in becoming a better researcher. I taught myself the R programming language to verify data analysis from published journal articles with the end goal of improving the replication crisis in psychology. From this, I learned to embrace my mistakes, adopting a growth mindset to appreciate different arguments and perspectives.My responsibilities:• Provide hands-on experience in reproducible psychological research in human models• Collectively reproduce statistics and plots in R from a recently published paper, Carstensen et al. (2020) • Individually present verification challenges/outcomes and exploratory data analysis in a verification report• Attend weekly Behavioural Neuroscience and Health Psychology lab meetings

My role as a research assistant in the Behavioural Neuroscience Laboratory alongside Dr Zhi Yi Ong has assisted me to fine-tune the skills necessary to further my research career. I was most fascinated by my immunofluorescence work, performing this technique on 50+ rodent hindbrain sections expressing eYFP or mCherry biomarkers.My responsibilities:• Research neurobiological mechanisms on food intake control and addiction • Perform behavioural pharmacology, histology, and microscopy techniques in rodent models• Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced laboratory environment• Multitask on various projects while maintaining a positive rapport with research groups • Catalogue research data into Microsoft Excel spreadsheets
