About Alessandra Comini
After 41 years as a professor of art history (Columbia University, Southern Methodist University) I have found a joyous new profession in retirement. Writing art history murder mystery books. Four have been published and are on Amazon with 5 star reviews: Killing for Klimt, The Schiele Slaughters, The Kokoschka Capers, and The Munch Murders. Of my eight scholarly books, Egon Schiele's Portraits was nominated for a National Book Award and received the Charles Rufus Morey Book Award. It and my book The Changing Image of Beethoven: A Study in Mythmaking, have been recently reissued as paperbacks with new prefaces. In honor of my work on Germanic topics the Republic of Austria awarded me its Grand Medal of Honor in 1990. I was given a similar award by the Veteran Feminists of America in 2012, honoring my work on women artists. My memoir, In Passionate Pursuit, commissioned by the legendary puplisher George Braziller, 2004, has been brought out in a new edition in 2016, also on Amazon. I am in constant email contact with two generations of students, two of whom have established fellowships in my honor. Teaching LIVES!
