The final goal is to deliver lines with increased quality paramenters to be used for commercial hybrids.GWAS analysis, QTL detection, finemapping, gene discovery and gene validation are examples of the molecular tools routinely employed in the quality improvement process.Other projects: field phenotyping for early vigour, plot quality, drought resistance, lodging resistance in Germany, Italy, Hungary and Romania. Seven months internship in the research and development unit.The activities were aimed at the data collection and data management concerning the productive cycle of corn hybrids, in order to deliver reliable parameters for the assessment of the potentially marketable hybrids.Among the various activities, I point out the:- registration and management of the incoming, utilized, and outgoing corn seeds through MINT software;- preparation and organization of the bags of seeds… Show more Seven months internship in the research and development unit.The activities were aimed at the data collection and data management concerning the productive cycle of corn hybrids, in order to deliver reliable parameters for the assessment of the potentially marketable hybrids.Among the various activities, I point out the:- registration and management of the incoming, utilized, and outgoing corn seeds through MINT software;- preparation and organization of the bags of seeds for the precision plot seeder in accordance with the experimental design;- data collection file creation and management with SPIRIT software.Data collection with field computer:- germination rate and plot quality rating assessment within 40 days after sowing;- male and female flowering date;- number of lodged and broken plants per plot;- height of the plants and of the insertion of the ear on the stalk.Many other activities have followed, including evaluation of the fungal damage to the ears, harvest and drying of the silage trials, shelling and uploading of the data on the SPIRIT software.This internship required intense teamwork and an accurate coordination with every member of the research and development unit.
