In Arup I had the position of structural/seismic lead engineer and my team was focused mainly on the seismic assessment and strengthening of buildings in the Groningen region. The area is hit by earthquakes due to the gas extraction started in the 60s. This was a joint project with Arup Amsterdam, Istanbul, Milan and Madrid Offices and I was technically leading all of them. I was also managing the large team, facing the client and making offers in terms of resources and budget. We were all working on the delivery of concept (VAs) and detailed designs (for the seismic assessment and retrofit of buildings) for our client Centrum Veilig Wonen (CVW).The area of expertise developed in Arup were related to seismic assessment (NLTH, NLPO and NLKA) and design of retrofit measures bringing also all my expertise developed in Italy for the same topic.

I worked as a consultant for other engineering companies, such as: Technip Italy spa, Ingegneria europea srl, Stefanelli engineering srl, APS engineering spa, Coding srl, INEA srl and others. My projects have been performed in Italy as well as in the international markets. I have worked in projects in all of their phases, from the conceptual schematic design and the subsequent full development of the construction drawings. He has been involved in many of the design aspects and also in coordination tasks with architects, other disciplines and contractors. Main activities:▪ Detailed design (including working drawings) of steel and reinforced concrete structures (Civil and Oil&Gas);▪ Seismic assessment and retrofit of masonry/reinforced concrete/steel buildings;▪ Geotechnics: foundations (deep or shallow), bulkheads, retaining walls, consolidation analysis of embankment, stability analysis of slopes;▪ Infrastructures: bridges, overbridges, viaducts, underpasses.I have led the detailed design (including construction drawings) of several buildings and structures on the following Oil & Gas projects:- ENOC PROCESSING COMPANY L.L.C.-JEBEL ALI REFINERY EXPANSION PROJECT;- OCAR (State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic) located within the Sumqayit complex;- Ethylene XXI Project (EXXI) - Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico:- Lukoil Neftochim Bourgas (Bourgas, Bulgaria)- Tupras - Turkish Petroleum Rafineries & co.:The work developed was based on the following type of analyses:▪ Linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis with time history function;▪ Static non-linear analysis (Pushover analysis);▪ Linear dynamic analysis (Modal analysis);▪ Blast load calculation and analysis;▪ Fatigue analysis.

I have been involved in several different projects as a structural and getechnical design engineer. Some projects at constraction level have required my supervision of construction. For some projects I have been project coordinator between architects and draftsmen, junior design engineers and geotechnical engineers. The most important projects I have been involved are:▪ Highway Rome-Latin: foundations (deep or shallow), bulkheads, retaining walls, consolidation analysis of embankment, stability analysis of slopes.▪ Railway Palermo-Messina: bridges, over bridges, viaducts, underpasses.▪ Assess and retrofit of masonry buildings in L’Aquila after the huge earthquake in 2009 (structural FEM analysis and design of strengthening measures to improve and/or repair the buildings);▪ Design of steel and reinforced concrete buildings for residential and commercial purpose.▪ Assess and retrofit of masonry buildings in Rome (structural FEM analysis and design of strengthening measures to improve the seismic performance);▪ Structural Interventions for a lot of existing buildings.
