I join the Data Centre Infrastructure Services team (DCIS) at COLT Telecommunication as part of the Design Autority (DA) for all the Colt Telecommunication infrastructures. I'm based in London but, because the purpose of my role, the location of my office change daily within all the European countries. As an electrical engineer I consider the data centres industry one of the best fashionable in this time and I'm really happy to be part of it!My job consists in:- Setting engineering design policy and best practice - Technical specifications and white paper- Defining standard for all the data cente facilities in the group- Develop energy efficiency improvement for data centre and Telco- Design's review, testing and commissioning of the new installation- Undertaking site condition surveys and resilience assessments

This role has been the first after I moved to London back in August 2007.In NDY I was part of the electrical design team for Data Centres and financial offices mostly in the London area! Despite the short experience I had chance to learn and grow in a very exiting enviroment working for some major project and to travel to Australia and Dubai.Main duties are:- Design and review of electrical systems for data centers- Preparation and writing technical specifications for equipment- Design of lighting installations for buildings banking, data center, malls- Workflow management and customer relationship- On site testing and commissioning- Working with multi-disciplinary design teams to accomplish on-budget/on-time projects

If you don't want study at the University it's better go to work!This is the reason why I join the technical team at Energy Rental in Milano back in 1996 as lighting technician.My work consisted in setting up all the lighting and electrical device and managing it during the event.Because the 90% of the job consisted in live event I developed excellent skill in working under stress condition and I finally realize (after 4 years of hard but full of satisfaction work) that an university degree is worth! In any case ever!
