The overall aim of my dissertation research was to elucidate the role of conserved scaffold proteins in innate lymphocyte signaling and function. In addition, I participated in multiple collaborations and supervised undergraduate and medical student research projects in the areas of cell biology, molecular immunology, and genetics.

I investigated virus-host interactions by developing molecular and biochemical approaches to address inhibition of host protein synthesis by porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV). I also managed an undergraduate research project focused on viral protein mutagenesis and transgenic expression in a cell culture viral infection system. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I directed laboratory sections in undergraduate biology focused on instructing basic laboratory skills to inform core biological concepts.

As an Undergraduate Researcher, I worked towards the generation of transgenic C. elegans by aerosol beam injection as part of an undergraduate research team in collaboration with Stine Seed Company. I also served as an Academic Assistant for Inorganic Chemistry where I assisted in laboratory resource management, exam preparation, grading, and leading weekly review sessions.

As a selected student researcher, I isolated, characterized, and genetically modified enterococci bacteria to investigate the genetic factors facilitating it's persistence in the mammalian intestine.
