Step Up Supercamps are immersive, intensive ESL camps for adults. This year they are running over the summer at the UBC Okanagan campus.

The Global Leaders Summer Camp is a 5-week residential ESL camp based at UBC for 9 - 17 year-olds, with an enrolment this year of over 300 participants.As director of the Global Leaders Summer Camp I was entirely responsible for all operational aspects of the camp, the welfare of over 300 students and, in conjunction with my supervisor, controlling the budget of around $900k. Highlights include:• Coming in under budget with the camp operating at full capacity• Quickly building a tightly-knit managerial team able to respond to the daily challenges of camp life• Creating an operational manual and best practices to assist expansion and replication of the projectResponsibilities include:• Recruiting, training and managing a team of around 45 employees and volunteers• Implementing the operational plan from start to finish of the project• Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the camp and dealing with any issues that arose• Documenting and improving procedures and best practices relating to all aspects of the camp• In conjunction with my line manager, overseeing expenditure and ensuring budgetary requirements were met

• Maintain all aspects of day-to-day course delivery to the highest standards.• Proposed, designed and implemented an Individual Learning Plan for every student and oversaw relevant administration and teacher training regarding this.• Personally designed and implemented full competence-based curriculum in line with academic goals, oversaw delivery and follow up assessment• Carry out teacher training, Professional Development and supervision of teachers• Improved several marketing systems and procedures, including implementation of a monthly newsletter and maintenance of student/agent databases
