I co-managed an extrusion research lab consisting of two extrusion lines as well as slitting and lamination equipment. The lab supported the industrial tapes and adhesives division which is one of the largest in the company. Maintaining and upgrading the equipment was one of my primary roles as well as taking an engineer’s idea from paper to prototype. I also engaged with customers on solutions to issues regarding the use of 3M products with their equipment. Another primary responsibility was to keep records and notes during every experiment. I was a core team member of the top project in the division and am a co-inventor on four patents related to the project. Troubleshooting faulty drives and electrical components was a critical aspect of my role as a process engineer. During my two years at 3M as an engineer, I was on the division’s safety committee as well as a waste stream coordinator for the lab. Improving the efficiency of the equipment and reducing waste was a goal I set for myself during the two years I managed the lab.

Learn the film manufacturing and extrusion processes used in creating film for different 3M experimental projects. Work alongside technicians as well as engineers to understand all aspects of the machinery and operations.

I worked with two architecture students through the University of Minnesota as a Design Engineer intern. The objective for the summer was to design and construct a fully functioning solar powered bus shelter for Metro Transit. We successfully built a prototype that was displayed at the Minnesota State Fair in 2015. Assist students in learning the machines in order to complete class and research projects. Make sure the shop is a safe place to work for everyone in the Mechanical/Aerospace/Electrical/Bio-medical departments. Co-manage 3D printing machines used by the department.

Collected and sorted data used in competition research. Created internal presentations to preview potential product growth and sales. Reviewed literature to ensure accuracy in product descriptions. Researched codes/standards and created an easy-to-use template in determining certain characteristics.
