• Served over 45 hours per week, 1700 annually, at William T. Tilden Middle School for one year with City Year, an international not for profit service organization that focuses on improving high school graduation rates for at risk youth. Worked as classroom tutor and mentor• Focus on literacy and math improvement with students who are showing particular signs of risk towards failing, as well provide after-school homework and recreational outlets for all students• Make phone calls home to absent students, speak with parents about implementing positive initiatives to improve attendance•Serve as Literacy Coordinator, responsible for researching and implementing literacy improvement initiatives for fellow Corps Members to use with their students• Have fundraised towards community events and supplies for students, staff, and community through initiatives such as book drives, Fall Festival Community Day, and in-kinding through local businesses
