After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1969, Alex worked in both Western & Eastern Canada, ultimately returning to Calgary and starting Vista Projects in 1985. For much of Vista’s history and on many of Vista’s key projects, Alex has acted as a senior process engineer and project manager. Currently Alex's insight and long industry experience are invaluable in providing guidance in the early stages of project scoping. As Vista continues to grow, Alex also mentors Vista’s engineering teams, and acts as the sponsor on a series of large-scale SAGD projects, in addition to maintaining an active role in leading Vista’s management team. A cross-country skiing and bicycling enthusiast, Alex is affiliated with APEGA, APEGS, APEGBC, ISA, GPAC and CHOA.Specialties: Alex has extensive Process Engineering and Project Managment experience, focusing on Bitumen / Heavy Oil Processing (SAGD & CSS steaming, heavy oil/bitumen treating, water deoiling, raw & produced water treatment & sand handling) and Gas Processing (sweetening, dehydration, dew point control, LPG/NGL recovery, fractionation, sulphur recovery & compression)
